The Basics Of Clever Bathroom Planning
Every bathroom renovation should start with the analysis of the room to be planned. In this way you not only ensure that your concept works - you also achieve the optimum visual effect. We will show you how to find clever solutions even for difficult floor plans such as the classic hose bath.
The next step is to find the point that catches your eye first when you enter the bathroom. If you now draw a straight line there, you will get the line of sight.
Planning rule number 1: The zones created in this way should remain unfurnished as corridor zones as far as possible. Of course, this cannot always be done, or you can deliberately choose to place the bathtub under the window with a view of the greenery. In such cases, it is nevertheless advisable at least to leave the view to the window free and not to obstruct it with walls or other objects.
Define Traffic And Sight Axes
Simply stand in the doorway and look at the window, if there is one. The resulting imaginary straight lines mark the corridor zones, also known as traffic Axes. The next step is to find the point that catches your eye first when you enter the bathroom. The gait zones define extroverted and introverted areas
Now you know which areas of your bath will receive more and which less attention in the future. Particularly pretty solutions for the bathroom will later end up in the extroverted area, less beautiful or more discreet objects in the introverted area.
All areas to the right and left of the marked axes can be used for furnishing.
Exciting floor plans thanks to distinctive room features
Like diagonals, corners and edges in a room can also specify design axes. In this way, one and the same floor plan can be designed very differently. Along such axes, for example, furniture can be placed or different functional areas can be divided.
Tricks for difficult cases using the example of hose bath and attic bathroom
The simplest trick to take the sheer infinite width of hose baths is to plan objects crosswise. In this way, the hose is interrupted and the length of the room is optically equalized. Another possibility to loosen up long tunnels is the optical interruption. If you want to subdivide functional areas, you can draw in steps, interrupt the tiling or even change it.
The bright, friendly colour design of the rear wall can make them look closer. A striking illumination of the rear wall achieves a similar effect: if we focus on this wall, it appears closer to us than it actually is. The general rule for hose baths is: a lot of light also helps a lot. The lighting of the sidewalls gives the room width. Mirror surfaces can even support this effect since the reproduction of the room to the right and left suggests size where there is none at all. In addition, in rooms that are too long: Floor materials should be laid against the long direction so that the hose is not additionally accentuated.
When planning an attic floor plan, you should exclude possible shock hazards. The focus is on comfortable, unbent use. Objects can be planned under the sloping ground. Rule of thumb for the bathtub: Half to two-thirds of the bathtub under the pitched roof should be outside the two-metre line. A shower under the sloping roof is also possible. It can even enhance the appearance of the room enormously, but it is also important to pay attention to the standing height. Wash places and toilets can also be courageously placed under sloping roofs. For a comfortable solution, however, it is not only the standing height that needs to be taken into account - but also the usability of the mirror: it is not enough to be able to hang the mirror under the sloping roof. Above all, tall people should make sure that they can still see themselves well in it.
