1. what is a shower toilet?

A shower toilet is also called Washlet, a Japanese toilet or - as with us - AquaClean. First of all, it works like a normal toilet, because the flush button is also pressed here after each use. In addition, a shower toilet can have a lot more functions. Most importantly, it cleans the bottom with a gentle jet of freshwater.

2. who invented the shower toilet?

As early as 1957, the first shower toilet that gently cleans the bottom with water caused a sensation among the Japanese, who were known for their high level of personal hygiene. But it is not a Japanese invention! This honour is due to the Swiss Hans Maurer, who applied for a patent for the shower toilet at the time.

How does the cleaning of the bottom feel with the shower toilet?

I think that varies from person to person. I can still remember my "first time" well because although I knew what was coming, I was still quite surprised. Even today I find the cleaning with the water jet very gentle and pleasantly warm.

How does cleaning a shower toilet work?

That depends on the model in particular because not all washlets are equipped with the same functions. In general, however, water cleaning is activated at the touch of a button: A shower arm moves out and splashes the bottom clean with a defined and well-tempered amount of water. This feels just as fresh and cleansing as a bidet. Shower toilet owner Fritz tells in the video interview that he doesn't want to miss his AquaClean. On vacation, he often feels "taken back in time". No wonder: Our shower toilets have a double nozzle for increased cleaning intensity and low water consumption. This is made possible by a pulsating shower jet that is refined by dynamic air mixing.

How is a shower toilet installed?

Several ways lead to the shower toilet. Special attachments can easily be retrofitted because they fit on all common toilet bowls and are simply installed instead of the existing toilet seat. The more elegant version as a complete WC requires conversion by a sanitary specialist.

Does a shower toilet need separate connections for water and electricity?

Yes, whether an attachment or a complete shower toilet: a water branch for the shower and an electrical connection for heating the water jet is a must and normally pre-installed in every bathroom through connections.

What does a shower toilet cost?

Quick to install shower toilet attachments cost around EUR 500. Complete shower toilets in a beautiful design usually have several functions (see question 10) and are available from specialist retailers from approx. 2,300 EUR incl. 19% VAT. One or the other may think proud price now. Those, which are already in the possession of a shower WCs know the comfort of the cleaning with pure water however each day to estimate.

Where can I buy a shower toilet?

Good shower toilets are usually sold through specialist retailers. If you are interested, visit the exhibition of a shower toilet specialist dealer or manufacturer to see the various functions and designs live - and at best test them yourself in the customer toilet.

Who installs a shower toilet?

If the purchase decision is made, the top unit or the shower toilet is installed by a professional. We recommend the professional installation of the shower toilet with water and electricity connection by an installer. As a rule, the installation of a shower toilet takes about three hours.
